Company History

Three Towers Flooring was established in August of 2001 as a subsidiary of SCILLA GROUP of COMPANIES, a privately owned consortium with global interests in forestry, land holdings and shipping. Initially Three Towers was set up to better utilize the Scilla Group's forestry holdings in Canada, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ghana, West Africa. The company began operations shipping South American and African lumber and flooring blanks to Canada, USA and Europe, while North American hardwood logs were shipped to Europe and Asia.  The responsibility to manage the company was given to three brothers(hence the name Three Towers): Domenic, John and Bruno Fortugno. Domenic was involved with the financial management and adminstration of the company, while John oversaw the supply side and developed relationships with loggers, landowners, sawmills, and flooring plants. Younger brother Bruno was responsible for the companies sales.

With the succes of the hardwood log export business from Canada to Europe, the Fortugno brothers continued their expansion into hardwood specialty products such as kiln dried flooring blanks, dimensional lumber and tongue and groove flooring. which was well accepted in Europe(principally Italy, France & Germany). The export sales of these products grew to a volume of approximately 300 containers per year, and within a few short years of its inception Three Towers Flooring was shipping over 500 containers a year to export markets in Europe, Asia and Middle East.

In 2004, Three Towers Flooring developed and marketed a domestic private label flooring program, as a lower priced alternative to the brand name flooring that was available on the market at the time, and commenced to wholesale oak, maple and jatoba, to flooring retailers, contractors and builders across Canada and the United States. Many retailers chose to put their own private label on the boxes, while others preferred their products in plain brown boxes. The formula for this success is very simple: kiln dried lumber was purchased in  truck load or container volumes to ensure volume pricing, while the company contracted only the best Canadian flooring plants to mill and prefinish its product. In the early days, it was an unwritten rule that one of the brothers would be at the plants at all times to supervise the manufacturing process, and ensure that the quality met the expectations of its very demanding customers. This simple but effective strategy remains the foundation of what Three Towers was built on today, and is one of the reasons why Three Towers Flooring is considered a pioneer in PRIVATE LABEL flooring programs for retailers and builders alike.

In the fall of 2006,  Three Towers Flooring opened its showroom to the public, selling its products under the 3T brand name, and has since become a market leader in "FACTORY DIRECT" retail of MADE IN CANADA hardwood flooring products, with retail sales in Toronto expected to hit over 1 million square feet in 2011.
